Welcome to Mid-America Bully Breed Rescue
Welcome! MABBR was created by a group of bully breed enthusiasts to save
these delightful but often misunderstood dogs. Not only does MABBR rescue
and find homes for homeless bull breeds such as American Pit Bull Terriers,
American Staffordshire Terriers, American Bulldogs, Bull Terriers, Staffordshire
Bull Terriers, Bull Mastiffs, mixed breeds, and other Mollasser-type dogs,
MABBR also focuses on education, outreach, and assisting cities with drafting
safer and more effective breed-neutral dangerous dog laws.

She stayed the night in the hospital, and I picked her up today at 5:00 pm when I got off work. She was very happy to see me, very alert on the ride home, went straight for her bed and passed out. She has a pain patch in her back that is delivering a constant pain killer. They found a fragment the size of a quarter, they didnt have to cut it out, it was free-floating in there. She has an incision about 6 inches long on her right back leg. She is supposed to be mobile in a couple of weeks, but the doctor says the scar tissue in her socket was pretty intense and she may never have full function of her leg. By removing the fragments, she will be in much less pain, and certainly have much better use of her leg. Thanks you to everyone who has donated towards her care and kept her in your thoughts. She is one of the best dogs I have ever met, and I have known many! Update 4/28/08 Tommy is doing well. We are still waiting on further testing results but he is recouping from surgery quite well. Unfortunately our surgery bill for him came in $600 over the estimate, so our goal now has been raised. Jinx has been scheduled for her
surgery on April 30th. Update 4/24/08: Tommy had surgery

Incredi-bulls for Adoption
MABBR's mission is to rescue great bully breed ambassadors and
place them for adoption. Candidate MABBR
dogs are selected from animal shelters across the Midwest. After evaluation
and vetting, dogs are either fostered or boarded until their forever families
are found.
Finding a Dog a Home
If you are looking to surrender a dog, our space is limited as we rescue
all of our dogs from crowded animal control facilities and shelters. Please
try your best to keep your pet - he/she is counting on you! Rehoming
your Pet
If you are an animal shelter, rescue group, or individual who found a dog in need of a new home, please visit our Find a Dog a Home page for resources, tips and advice.

Featured New Beginning - A Perfect Match!
Beans
formerly Deuce was adopted in May of 2007 by MABBR volunteer's Rachel
and Mark. He was scared of his own shadow and refused to leave the house
when he was first rescued though now he is now a
neighborhood staple. Beans loves to go for long leash walks with his parents
around the Nelson Atkins museum and greets everyone who approaches him.
Beans loves meeting small children and is especially fond of toddlers
because they're at his eye level. Beans will begin his AKC Canine Good
Citizen classes this summer and will eventually be evaluated for the therapy
dog program. Beans' parents had fostered 18 dogs without a failure prior
to Beans arrival, but within a day of Beans entering the house, his parents
knew he was there to stay. It will be his one year adoption anniversary
on Mother's day in May.
