MABBR Adoption Event

MABBR can not begin to express how thankful we are for the amazing support, generosity, and help we have been given this year from our Supporters, Donors, Volunteers, Rescue Partners, Veterinarians, Friends, and so many others.

It's been an amazing year and we've still got lots of work to do before the year end is here, but we wanted to take Thanksgiving again to tell you all how very thankful we are to you for the dedication and support you give to MABBR and the dogs all year long. With your help we have continued to surpass even our wildest dreams on how many needy dogs we're able to help in our program. We've once again surpassed our adoption numbers from our prior year and been able to help a large number of very needy hard luck cases that had truly nowhere else to go. We can't say thank you enough.

We also want to give a very heartfelt thank you to all the amazing dogs who have touched our lives so deeply. There are no words that will ever truly express how much they mean to us, and how much fulfillment they bring into our lives. All of this is for them, and yet so often we have the honor of looking into those beautiful eyes and feeling like perhaps it is actually the dogs that rescue us.

Please read below the special Thanks from some of our very special Incredi-Bulls.

What am I thankful for?

Thanks by Leonidas

I am so very thankful for the two people who witnessed my torture and found it in their heart to sneak me away, even though it meant endangering their own lives. I am thankful for their selflessness, and I am thankful that they knew the abuse I was suffering was wrong and had enough courage to end it. I am thankful for the shelter who made an emergency call and to MABBR who drove me all the way to my foster home.

I am thankful to my foster mom and dad, and all my foster brothers and sisters who have shown me love and attention I had never known. I am thankful that they let me walk on my own and trained me to use my one good leg, even if it's missing a paw. I'm thankful that my foster mom and dad have shown me that I don't have to be afraid of people and I'm thankful to know I am safe. I'm thankful that my foster brothers and sisters have shown me I don't have to be scared of them and they're not going to hurt me like the last dog. I'm thankful that they play with me and nurture me, and put up with my puppy nibbles and all of my puppy energy.

I'm so thankful to the vet who amputated my leg, who gives me special treats when I come to visit him, and let's me give him lots and lots of kisses. I'm thankful he took a special interest in me and that I can see his face light up every time he sees me.

Most of all, I am thankful to the people who donated to help with all of my care. Without their compassion and generosity, I would not be near as happy as I am today and I'm thankful that with their support I can enjoy my very first Thanksgiving!

-Leonidas

Thanks by Renzo:

I'm thankful that I have mom and dad wrapped around my dewclaw, and that I'm so cute that even when I'm bad all I have to do is turn on the charm and get out of trouble. I'm thankful that someone thought about making pig ears and cheetos. I'm really thankful that I have never had to listen to elevator music because I hear its awful. I'm thankful for mirrors because I really think I look good in them. I'm thankful that I don't have to put on pantyhose or get waxed it don't sound like fun.

I'm thankful that I'm not addicted to drugs, cigarettes or porn. I'm thankful I can't drive because I know I would be a speeder and get lots of tickets. I'm thankful that I don't have to worry about my credit rating or someone stealing my identity. I'm thankful I don't know who Michael Jackson or Michael Vick are. I'm thankful that I only have to get neutered once in my life. But seriously I'm most thankful for my chance at life and for all my friends and family at MABBR.

Thanks by Bluebird:

I am thankful for Leavenworth Animal Control for taking me in and looking after me even though I looked like I may not make it. They cared for me and believed in me when most people would not. They found me a rescue group and foster family to take me in and bring me back to life. I am so very grateful for their compassion. I am also thankful for my warm bed, and foster siblings Brahma and Ozzy. I am thankful that they love and accept me and play gently because they know I'm still sick. I am thankful for my strong spirit and will to live. I am thankful to be alive.
-Bluebird.

Thanks by Piper:

I am thankful for my warm home to sleep in versus the boarding place I was in. The people here are very nice and I have just fallen in love with the little girl Lexi, even though she calls me Spencer! Cadillac my foster brother is really sweet and loves to take walks with me by his side, I am thankful for my walks everyday. I am thankful for the loving hands that pet me and especially the ones that feed me! I am just thankful I am in a home!

From foster mom:

In the short time I have had piper she has shown me every side of her and all of them are beautiful. She is Loving, Loyal, and Patient-and I am thankful she is my first foster dog.

Thanks by Bosco:

I'm Bosco... I guess I am not technically a MABBR Foster dog anymore because I have a super great pending adoption! My people love me so much, and call me "Little Boscy"- They like to hold me like a baby and give me kisses. I am so thankful that I have the best foster siblings ever, they play with me, kiss me, sleep with me and love on me. I am thankful for the chewy I get everyday, and all the love in my house. What I am super thankful for is the fact that my new mommy is building a fence just for me!!! I cant wait to go to my forever home and romp in the back yard!

Thanks by Chai:

I am thankful for all of the people that have taken care of me over the years, my fleece lined warm bed, my foster brother Earl and sister Karma, my warm blue knitted sweater that my grandma bought me for winter, people that make donations to the Mabbr incredi-bulls, all of the Mabbr foster homes, and lastly I am thankful that my mother Sassy found her forever home with a wonderful family.

Happy Thanksgiving,
Chai(formally Pie)

Thanks by Conan:

Hey Everyone,

My foster family really does not know what happened to me, and I prefer it to stay that way. If I told them, they may feel pity for me. You see I know they love me just for me, not my sad past. I am thankful for whoever rescued me at first. I am thankful that I do not have to live on a chain anymore. My fir has grown in now to cover the scar from where that chain once hung. I am thankful that a fly will never land on my ears again, causing me such pain and discomfort.( and by the way that hair will never grow back, but Mom says it makes me cute)

I thank god for my foster family when they take me for walks, they reassure me every step of the way. You see I startle easily, I do not like loud noises, and I get scared. Yes I said it I get scared....I bet a lot of you can't imagine a 100lb dog getting scared. Whew there I finally said it, now that that's off my chest....... ...I will say that I am thankful to all of you at MABBR for giving me a chance to live and love life. In essence it is all of you that I give my thanks to........I love you all. I hope someday I will get to meet more of you. I am quite the charmer.

Thank you again for giving me my life back,

Conan

Thanks by the Saunders Clan:

Lola, Neitzsche, Mu, and Olive are thankful for finding their family. They are thankful for cookies mostly, but much appreciate the second chance MABBR has given them. They meet all love with love and are grateful for the chance to do that. Mu would like to add that he is particularly grateful for the opportunity to wreak havoc and hone his comic skills.

Mathilda, Gracie, and Snidely are thankful to have warm beds. Gracie is grateful to have had the chance to have her last babies in safety, and is even more grateful to never have any more. Mathilda is absolutely thankful to be safe and warm and loved. Snidely is grateful for all the pups here that play with him and anything he can find and call a chew toy. Treats rock, too.

As a foster family we are the most grateful. We have been touched by every dog that has come through our house. We are grateful to play even the smallest part in their lives and are honored to have gotten to know them. Every last one has become a part of our hearts and will always be as much a part of our family as any dog we ourselves adopted. And about all those we've adopted - there are not words to express to that kind of gratitude.

Thanks by Jack:

I am thankful to MABBR for taking me back in after my family was unable to keep me (through no fault of my own). I am thankful for my new foster mom and dad for understanding that I missed my family and I was scared. I am thankful for my foster siblings for putting up with me while I adjusted and for giving me kisses when I was sad. Most of all I am thankful for being given a life that most others in my positions didn't get and having so many people work so hard to give that life to me.

Thanks by Lucious:

Lucius is so very thankful to finally be in a foster home. He didn't know much about what it meant to live in a home but with patience and gentle encouragement, he is learning that there is life beyond a dog fighting ring. He is grateful for the walks he gets to go on and the new people he gets to meet. Belly rubs are awesome, without a doubt, and quiet time with his own bone is what life is all about.

As Lucius's foster home, all I can say is that if you don't meet him, you'll never know what a truly kind soul he is. Pictures cannot portray the wonderful heart this boy has. Just look beyond the scars on his face and you will find a heart as big as the Windy City he came from. If anyone has something to be thankful for, it's me. Lucius has taught me that these dogs, no matter where they come from or how bad their situation is, are loving and forgiving creatures and more willing to love those that need to be forgiven.

Thanks by Mama Lucy:

My name is Mama Lucy, I have over come so much in the last year. I was homeless, pregnant, with a gun shot wound in the face that went untreated. Now today, 6 of my 8 babies have been adopted in forever homes. I live in a loving foster home, with my best friend and foster brother cooper. My foster kitty sister Carli tolerates me but Riley, my other kitty sis, will let me give her baths. I am told I am the most affectionate pup anyone has ever seen, I just want love since I went so long with out it! I cannot wait to see what 2009 has in store for me, possibly a new home with new parents!!

Thanks by Jude (mabbr Alumni):

Hi my name is Jude, I am told I am a beautiful American Bull dog, my new dad has renamed me Pink and it suits me! I am so thankful for getting a second chance at life in 2008, I was only a foster for a short while before my daddy found me. I now live in Omaha and can't wait for the snow! It's my favorite, I love to wallow and play in it! Thank you MABBR for saving my life and giving me a chance!

Thanks by Coal:

Man, oh man, I have a lot to be thankful for! I'm only a few months old, but already so many people have helped save my life... There was the nice man and his wife who couldn't bear to see me put to sleep in the shelter just because of what breed of dog I am, and their daughter who swooped in, picked me up, and delivered me to my foster home, I wouldn't be here today without all of them stepping up for me.

I am so thankful to MABBR and all of the wonderful people who donated for my treatment, they believed I would pull through, even with all the chips stacked against me. I owe my life to everyone who works at Cedar Ridge Animal Hospital - literally! They saved my life TWICE! I am thankful for my foster mommy and daddy, who have nursed me back to health and shown me what it is to be part of a family. I'm thankful for my doggy foster sis, Gia, for showing me the ropes and showing me the joy of a good zoomie around the yard. I love my doggy foster brother Angus sooooo much! He's my best friend and partner in crime. I'm thankful for my human foster brother, Ronan, because once I'm tuckered out he's always ready for a cuddle and a nap. Most of all, I am thankful to be alive, loved, happy, and healthy!

Thanks by Bronx:

Bronx is thankful for our five baby foster kittens that he gets to cuddle with on his cozy blanket.

Thanks by Zori:

I am thankful to MABBR for getting me out of that shelter just days before they were going to kill me. I am thankful for my new foster brothers (2 humans and another foster like me) and my foster sister (pit like me) for showering me with love and teaching me new things. I am thankful for my warm comfy bed, more food than I could ever eat, lots of chews to bite on and more love than I ever dreamed possible. Most of all I am thankful for my foster dad and mom because without them I wouldn't be here and they have shown me what a real home is.

From foster Mom: I am thankful for the joy and love I get from all my children (fosters: Zori and Jack, my baby Butters and my 2 human boys; Mikey and JJ) and for MABBR because they have saved so many lives. But most of all I am thankful for my husband Michael.

Thanks by Frankie Zappa and Natasha:

F rank and 'Tashey, are grateful that mom says that we will never have to go to a chiefs game again and scrounge the cold parking lot in our mangy puppy fir for a smokey crust of bread. Our mom says we can stay forever, and even though we know that pap is the boss, we know mom is the decision maker. and boy howday, are we glad pap had to retire early and has become a full time dog wrangler. We even taught him to make us sit and stay before we eat our sweet potato dog food (thinks he's cute).

Thanks from Phil and Madelyn, foster parents:

We are thankful for, "pit bull Frankie Zappa, his sister Natasha" and we are soooo
thankful: for our foster brother Bully porter, our packmates; Pibble Shuggah, Aramintha Bell (minty), and her shar-pai, shepherd mix
brother, Jimmy Carter, and our pit bull vishula mix pack mate, Penny.

Thanks by Sassy:

I am so thankful for my new parents and siblings. I am 11 years old and just lost my previous foster home and I had nowhere to go so I was placed at a very nice boarding facility. My new mom heard that I was in boarding and her heart broke in half. He immediately drove down and picked me up. I waddled out of the facility (I spent 2 days there) with painful arthritis, I was overweight and I had no fur on my tail, ears or nose. My mom figured this was just "old dog" stuff but she immediately ran out to the store and bought vitamin E and coconut oil to rub on my bald patched, aspirin for my arthritis and low fat senior dog food for my weight. Its been about a month, I have lost about 10 lbs and counting, there is fur on my ears, tail and nose and I started running around. My parents take me to the park on one of those flexi leashes and I just trot around like you wouldn't believe.
I am so thankful that my parents gave me a chance to come into their home and be like a grandma to their dogs. I sleep in bed with my siblings and clean them. I am also thankful that I have about 50 stuffed toys that I love to chew on. I get so happy my entire body starts to bounce, and I smile with my teeth. I spend my days smiling and loving everyone in my house and I couldn't possibly be happier!
